《激戰2》的制作公司ArenaNet的創辦人及現任主席Mike O'Brien在官方Blog上發表一則名為《Welcome to the Year of the Dragon》(歡度龍年)的文章。文中除了向一眾支持者問好外，更重要的是透露了《激戰2》將會在三至四月舉行的大規模測試，而游戲上市指日可待!用Mike的話來說：歡迎來到龍年——《激戰2》的年度。
文章開頭，Mike先重申他們反對沉悶的任務模式、僵化單調的戰斗方式，以及月費制度的決心，再次強調《激戰2》是讓玩家重新思考MMORPG 定義的機會，他表示將竭力為玩家提供新的體驗，并再次介紹《激戰2》各種創新的特色。

So this year, the Year of the Dragon, let’s usher out old thinking – the tired old quest model, stiff repetitive combat, and monthly fees – and usher in the new。
Guild Wars 2has captured the imagination of gamers and media all over the world with its action-oriented combat, its living world full of dynamic events, its highly personalized role-playing experience, and the handcrafted artistry that suffuses every element of the game. Last year, thousands of you joined us at shows and events all over the world to tryGuild Wars 2for yourself. This year, you’ll finally be able to immerse yourself in the vast, diverse world of Tyria。
We recently finished our first closed beta test, and we’re now ready to hold progressively larger events. In February we’ll invite select press to participate in beta testing, and in March and April we’ll aggressively ramp up the size of our beta test events so that many of you will have a chance to participate. And of course, this all leads to the release ofGuild Wars 2later this year。
